Literacy workshops set stage for learning success at Marion

October 20, 2026
Marion hosted its first literary workshop of the school year.
Literacy is a skill for everyone and at Marion, literacy is getting quite the boost.

Thanks to a literacy grant from Dollar General, the Marion Central School District was able to conduct its first Literacy Workshop of the year. Last week, Mrs. Robinson and Mrs. Schultz coordinated an engaging read-aloud with younger Marion students, who also enjoyed a cookies and "dirt" snack. Literacy strategies were discussed with parents and everyone took home a new book and stuffy!

"With these funds, we will work with partners to offer family literacy workshops for our school-aged students, Play & Grow events at Lollypops and Polka Dots for infants and toddlers, and opportunities to access GED prep classes for adults and older youth," said Casey Steiner, Marion CSD's Director of Community Schools & MTSS.

Stay tuned for our next event! We're excited to sharpen skills for students of all ages that will set the stage for future success!
