When it comes to classroom performance, Marion Central School District is among the best in New York and has the test scores to show for it.
Of the 658 districts across the state included in the 2024-25 ELA and math assessment test results for grades three through eight, Marion emerged as the top Wayne County school in both subjects according to data released by the New York State Department of Education. In the Wayne-Finger Lakes region that covers 25 school districts, Marion is No. 1 in ELA and No. 2 in math.

“Our academic performance results on the NYS 3-8 testing are another example of why Marion is ‘small but mighty’,” said Superintendent Dr. Ellen Lloyd. “We are so proud of our students’ accomplishments in the classroom and the dedicated staff who support them both in their academic program and throughout their school day.”
Statewide, 57% of students tested proficient in math (up 3 percentage points from 2023-24) and 53% tested proficient in ELA (up 7 percentage points from 2023-24). Congratulations to our Marion students and teachers for their hard work in the classroom!
