The Veterans Day celebration at Marion Elementary School had plenty of music, readings and pledges. But most of all, it had gratitude.
Veterans and their families were joined by Marion Elementary students in the school auditorium on Nov. 8 for a ceremony to honor those who served in the United States military.
Students were seated in the auditorium seats and flanked by the veterans who were seated along the sides. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by the first and second grade students, followed by a prepared reading from third graders. The students then learned about Honor Flight from Carol Ippolito, who helps organize the trips to Washington D.C. for veterans.
Veterans were then presented through a roll call with accompanying music from volunteers from the Towpath Fife and Drum Corps of Macedon. A moment of silence concluded the ceremony and veterans enjoyed visits with their families and young students before they returned to class.
Thank you to all our veterans who served and especially those who took the time to visit our school last Friday.
