Details on Civic Learning Week

New York State Civic Learning Week is being celebrated from March 11-15 throughout New York State and across the country. The Marion Central School District is proud to be participating in this event for the first time.

This week-long event aims to highlight the importance of civic education and prepare our students for active and engaged civic lives.

Civic education plays a crucial role in ensuring that every Marion student is equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills, and mindsets to become contributing members of our society. By prioritizing civic learning, we can empower our students to make a positive difference in their communities. This aligns with our work this year in offering the Class of 2024 the option to earn the Seal of Civic Readiness at graduation.

During Civic Learning Week, students throughout the district will participate in various civic learning experiences. These experiences will not only occur within the classroom but also extend to activities outside of school. We encourage families to join in by engaging in home activities highlighting the importance of civic learning with their children.
