After training two times per week for 10 weeks, Marion’s Girls on the Run team will participate in a 5K event on Sunday at Monroe Community College.

The participants, who are in grades 3-6 at Marion Elementary School, had fun, made friends, increased their physical activity and learned important life skills throughout the program. Their caring coaches, who are also MES teachers, led interactive lessons and running activities.

The team includes: Alena Austin, Aleigha Brooks, Abigail Casper, Rachael Davies, Amanda Davies, Makenzi Durfey, Thalia Graham, Charlotte Phelps, Payton Phelps, Bristol Tack, Deborah Macaulay. The coaches are Stephanie Wheeler, Jody Phelps and Kate Robinson.
