Marion High School senior Leah Gushlaw was recognized as a Wayne-Finger Lakes Superintendents' Student Award Recipient earlier this month. 

A Wayne-Finger Lakes Superintendents' Student Award Recipient demonstrates leadership as defined by: The consistent demonstration of qualities and characteristics that W-FL  superintendents would want to see in someone that assumed a leadership role within the W-FL BOCES Region. 

Leah was nominated by former Superintendent of Schools Don Bavis based on her participation in the Marion Elementary School Helpers (MESH) program as well as her student leadership role at Marion Junior-Senior High School. 

“Leah is a leader among her peers and the elementary students that she works with,” said Marion Junior-Senior High School Principal Shane Dehn. “She continuously models integrity and strong moral character that will serve as a foundation for her as she pursues a career in education.”

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ellen Lloyd and Dehn joined Leah at a reception honoring the region’s 25 Student Award Recipients on March 2 at the WF-L BOCES Conference Center in Newark.
