FFA Chapter Competes At Substates
Members of the Marion FFA chapter traveled to Byron-Bergen High School on Saturday, March 18 to participate in Substates for the first time.
Students competed in Employment Skills, Ag Issues and Prepared and Extemporaneous Speaking. Two members of Marion’s chapter, Rebecca VanCamp and Haden Williams, are both running for District president. Results of the election will be announced at the State Convention in May.
Chapter members also led participants in dances and games while making new friends.
“It was a great chance for our students to show off their hard work and exceptional leadership and inclusion skills,” Marion FFA adviser Lily-Anne Lachnor said.
FFA has a busy schedule before states as seven students will be competing in an invitational for career development this Saturday at Penn Yan and members of the Meat Judging and Ag Mechanics Teams are gearing up for a state-level competition at SUNY Cobleskill on April 22.
The Meat Judging Team consists of Alexis Schultz, Matthew Richenberg, Jenna Kuhn and Toby Roegiers. The Ag Mechanics team includes David Maynard, Nicholas Whitney, Cash MacNeal and Brandon Short.
