Marion Ranks First In Wayne County In Regents Proficiency Rate
Students in the Marion Central School District achieved the highest proficiency rate in Wayne County on the June 2022 New York State Regents Assessments.
Marion also ranked third in the 25-school Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES Region as 85% of Marion students who took a Regents exam this June earned a passing grade of 65% or higher.
“I am proud of the hard work that our students, staff, and parents put in every day,” Interim Superintendent of Schools Don Bavis said. “At Marion, students are at the heart of what we do and we believe that personalized learning is the future of education. Teamwork is the key to excellence and these assessment scores are the result of a lot of great teamwork throughout our learning community.”
“This happened because of the work that our teachers, staff, students, and parents/guardians put forth throughout the COVID pandemic. Their commitment and our hybrid learning model maximized student outcomes.” Junior-Senior High School Principal Shane Dehn said. “Our students had the benefit of being in school every day and these results support the value of in-person learning.”
Highlights included a 100% passing rate in Algebra II and a 91% passing rate in English.
“We’re not done. We want to strive towards all students demonstrating proficiency in all academic areas so that they are prepared for life after high school,” Dehn said. “We will get there by continuing to improve our educational practices by using benchmark standards, data review and targeted instruction.”
