Nikki Miller, Director of Educational Services for the Marion Central School District, has been selected as the 2022 Curriculum Award Winner by the Genesee Valley Association for School Curriculum and Development.
Miller, who has served in her role at Marion since 2010, was described by colleagues as “collaborative, student centered, and innovative.”
“Nikki is a strong collaborative partner who has helped us grow as building leaders,” Marion Elementary School Principal Dr. Ellen Lloyd and Marion Junior-Senior High School Principal Shane Dehn wrote in their recommendation letter to the GVASCD. “Nikki made it a priority to connect with us when we started at Marion and took the time to mentor us and get us up to speed on district priorities like personalized learning. We have worked closely together in order to build instructional programs that meet the needs of our students. Nikki is always willing to collaborate on creating professional development sessions for our staff and always brings ideas, resources, and humor to whatever project we are going to tackle.”
Lloyd and Dehn also commended Miller for building curriculum around the district’s core belief that “students are at the heart of what we do” and suggesting new ideas that create positive change for children.
“I am humbled and appreciative of this honor,” Miller said. “The recognition is extra special since I was nominated by my colleagues on the administrative team.”
Miller will receive her award at GVASCD’s annual awards reception on May 12 at Shadow Lake Golf Club in Penfield. Lloyd and Dehn will serve as presenters.
