District Names Valedictorian and Salutatorian For Class of 2022
The Marion Central School District is proud to announce its valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2022.
Isabela Vargas, daughter of Lorena Rangel and Froylan Vargas, has been named the valedictorian. Isabela earned this distinction by accumulating an overall academic average of 98.5.
In addition to completing her four years of high school with the top average in a class of 41 students, Isabela is an active school citizen. She is a selected member of the National Honor Society, a class officer and member of Student Council and also participates in the marching band and jazz band.
Isabela has been involved in athletics since ninth grade participating in softball and soccer. Isabela has been recognized academically by being awarded the University of Rochester George Eastman Young Leaders Award, the Rochester Institute of Technology Innovation and Creativity Award, the Hobart and William Smith College Finger Lakes Scholarship, the St. Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement with a Social Conscience, Chatham University’s Rachel Carson Healthy Planet Merit Award, and the University of Albany’s Multicultural Student Scholar Award.
Isabela plans to attend the University of Buffalo to major in psychology.
Janet Jaramillo, daughter of Nolberto and Rosario Jaramillo, has been named the salutatorian. Janet earned this distinction by accumulating an overall academic average of 97.3.
Janet is a selected member of the National Honor Society and participates in the annual musical. She has been actively involved in athletics since ninth grade, especially participating in tennis. Outside of school, Janet is an active volunteer for the Ontario Food Pantry, the Sodus Elementary Summer School, DeMay Living Center and at her church.
Janet has been recognized academically by being awarded the University of Rochester Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award, the Rochester Institute of Technology Computing Medal and Scholarship Award, and the Hobart and William Smith College Finger Lakes Award, the St. Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement with a Social Conscience, the St. Lawrence University Book Award, and the SUNY Brockport Honors College Academic Scholarship
Janet plans to attend SUNY Brockport in the fall to major in nursing.
