Welch Brothers Win $2,000 Grant From Grow-NY

Marion High School sophomores Ethan and Oren Welch's presentation at the Grow-NY Summit last week in Syracuse was selected for the $2,000 award to help grow their business, Welch Brother's Bins.

Ethan and Oren created Welch Brothers Bins in the spring. They noticed a shortage of apple bins for local farmers and build and sell 20-bushel apple bins to try to meet the demand. They saw this as a business opportunity that will also help their community.

The Welch brothers were part of a group of eight entrepreneurs selected to pitch their business idea and compete for a $2,000 top prize. They also learned more about challenges facing the food and agriculture industry while at the summit.

Ethan and Oren were joined at the summit by their parents Julie and Chris.

Congratulations to all!
