Abigail Marotta, a sophomore on the Marion girls varsity soccer team, has been named the 2021 Wayne County Girls Soccer Player of the Year in voting by the league’s coaches.

Abigail scored 43 goals and registered 14 assists to finish the season with 100 points. She helped Marion to an 11-1 record and league championship and a 14-4-1 record. The Black Knights earned the No. 2 seed for the Section V Class D1 Tournament and advanced to the championship game.

Abigail has been a member of two Section V championship teams (2018 and 2019) for Marion. She has scored 86 goals and accumulated 79 assists for 251 points in her four varsity seasons.
