Marion Names New Assistant Principal

The Marion Central School District has named Casey Steiner to be its new UPK-12 Assistant Principal effective July 1. Steiner’s appointment was approved at the June 1 Board of Education Meeting.

Steiner has served as the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Coordinator for Lyons Central School since 2015. She holds a Master of Science in school psychology from Roberts Wesleyan College and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from the University of Rochester.

“Casey has a strong background in MTSS and she will be able to provide a high level of academic, social and emotional support for our students,” Marion Superintendent of Schools Don Bavis said. “Casey is also very well connected with the community and service providers in Wayne County. We know that she will be a positive addition to our District and are excited that she will be joining us in July.”

Steiner has attended conferences with Marion Elementary School Principal Dr. Ellen M. Lloyd and Marion Junior-Senior High School Principal Shane Dehn and said she has been impressed with the District’s commitment to serving the needs of its students.

“I have really been inspired by some of the things that Marion is doing,” Steiner said. “Marion has a strong circle of positivity. The staff members are constantly speaking highly about the administration and the administration is always bragging about the staff.”

Steiner is looking forward to working with staff and students and becoming a part of Marion’s learning community.

“I am excited to be a part of the team and to learn and grow with the team,” Steiner said. “I am also excited about getting to know the families and all of the students so that I can greet them by name.”

Steiner resides in Phelps with her husband and two children. She is a graduate of Midlakes High School and her hobbies include gardening, cooking and watching football.
