Michael Hamill Selected For All-Eastern Mixed Choir
Senior Michael Hamill has made school history with his singing.
Hamill became the first Marion student to be selected to the National Association for Music Education’s All-Eastern Mixed Choir, an honors ensemble that features students from 11 states and the Department of Defense School in Europe.
In order to apply, students must be a junior or a senior and have been selected to perform in their state’s All-State ensemble.
Hamill will be performing with the All-Eastern Mixed Choir under the direction of Dr. Cory Ganshow of Bradley University. The concert will premiere virtually on April 23 at 8:30 p.m.
Hamill became eligible to apply after being selected for the Conference All-State Mixed Chorus, which is the highest choral honor in the state. He earned this honor by receiving a perfect score on his All-State solo audition.
“I am very proud of him and I know the rest of our music community is as well,” Marion choir director Ann Maine said.
