NHS Penny Fund Drive Raises Nearly $1,700
The National Honor Society’s annual Penny Fund Drive was a rousing success, raising nearly $1,700 dollars for the Marion Food Pantry.
The Class of 2021 led the way in fundraising for the second straight year, collecting $1,179.42. The seventh-graders secured $165.84 in donations, followed by the freshman class with $132.86, eighth-graders with $99.36, sophomores with $54.23 and juniors with $49.46 for a final total of $1,681.17.
“I continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity and caring nature of this school community,” Marion Junior-Senior High School Principal Shane Dehn said. “The Class of 2021 has set a fine example for the rest of the school on how to support the community in which they live.”
The seniors will celbrate with a special reward at a later date.
