Project Kindness spreads holiday cheer

They may be separated in age by about a dozen years, but the Marion senior class has already formed a bond with the youngest Black Knights.

The 51 members of the Class of 2021 made 54 holiday ornaments (one for each kindergarten student in the Class of 2033 at Marion Elementary School) through an effort called Project Kindness.

Project Kindness was organized by Mrs. Short, who put together ornament kits for the seniors that included plaques, markers, a note card, paint and brushes. The seniors created both Grinch and snowman ornaments.

Several volunteers helped make the project a success, including: Mr. Grab, who cut the wood discs; Kitty Goodridge, who provided cups for the paint; Amanda Donovan, who supplied Sharpie markers; and Mrs. Rood, who helped distribute the kits.

Kindergartners opened their ornaments on Dec. 22, the last day before holiday break.

As the kindergartners said after receiving their gifts, "Thank you seniors."
