Mr. Herlan Serves As Guest Speaker At Ceremony
The National Honor Society shines the spotlight on students who make the most of the organization's four pillars: Character, Scholarship, Leadership and Service.

And on Wednesday night, five Marion students were in that spotlight for the annual induction ceremony. Welcomed to the newest chapter of NHS at Marion are Madelyn Frey, Sienna Mattison, Lydia McKay, Aaron Meyer and Kaydence Potter.

Families gathered in the Marion auditorium for Wednesday’s event, where Superintendent Dr. Ellen Lloyd welcomed all. Current NHS members — Maria James, Thomas Burlee, Alexis Schultz and Cora Muller — explained the value of NHS before guest speaker Mr. Michael Herlan encouraged the new inductees to become leaders for their school and community.

The new members were then inducted by
lighting the traditional candles, which symbolize the “light of knowledge.”
Afterward, refreshments in the cafeteria were highlighted by a birthday cupcake and and song for Mr. Herlan, who was celebrating a birthday on Wednesday.

Congratulations to the new Marion NHS inductees. Your Black Knight family and community is proud of your accomplishments!
